wax carving tutorial 2

Description

Here I am cutting out my pattern with an old school jewelers saw, the block of wood that the wax is sitting on is called a bench pin. you saw into the wood while you cut the wax, since the wood is much harder than the wax it acts as a buffer to steady your hand and keeping the blade at a 90 degree angle to produce a much more accurate cut in the wax. Any piece of wood can be clamped or screwed onto a workbench to be used as a bench pin. Hardwoods will work best.

Bleh. I still can't saw straight. Gotten tips from people that have been doing it for years and only helps minimally. May have to break down one of these days and get one of those mounted saws.
